Hey everyone! It’s been a while since the website got updated. Seems people are pretty happy with just heading to the Facebook page, which is growing like crazy, thanks to the two new Admins that started helping to run it. Be that as it may, Universal Heart (UH) wanted to give our friends and followers a run down of what’s been going on with Heart and some of Heart’s former members, during 2012. While there will probably be a few things missed, we’ll make sure you get the interesting stuff.
Last year, many of us Heart Mongers were well aware that Heart would have a stellar year in 2012. We already knew about some of the upcoming projects, such as a tell-all book, which is scheduled to hit stores on September 18, 2012. Kicking & Dreaming: The Story of Heart, Soul, and Rock and Roll by Charles R. Cross, a well known rock and roll autobiographer, is anticipated to answer any and all questions you ever had about the band. “It is a good rock story. It has the highs and the lows with vulnerability, triumph, and love.”, says Ann.
Yes, stories that span the entire length of Heart’s career, from good times, bad times, break ups, make ups, rumors being put to bed, and much more. It’s understood that, all of Heart’s former band members were interviewed for the book. That should give some indication as to just how absolutely HOT this book will be. By clicking the book title link within this paragraph, you may order your copy, today!
A brand new box set was released in June, entitled Strange Euphoria, which was originally the name of a very silly track, found on the 1980 Greatest Hits album. “Strange Euphoria is a career-spanning box-set album by Heart. It features several of their hit songs as well as songs by The Lovemongers, solo songs by Ann Wilson and Nancy Wilson, a recording by the pre-Heart group Ann Wilson & The Daybreaks, and previously unreleased demos and live tracks. The Amazon exclusive version was released with a bonus CD containing covers of five Led Zeppelin songs, entitled Heart Zeppish.” - (Wikipedia)

Heart is currently on tour, test driving 3 new songs, which will be on the upcoming new studio album, Fanatic. “Dear Old America”, one of the new songs, is a great example of what came out of Ann’s decision to go home from last year’s Summer tour on the bus, instead of flying home, like the rest of the band opted to do. She wanted to stop in various places, around the United States, observing and getting a real down-to-earth feel about what is going on with many heavy subjects that are getting a lot of attention in America. Such as, the Occupy Movement, the economy, etc. According to Ann, “This new album will be very heavy. It is heavy rock. It is ten songs and three of them are ballads and not rock. It is very down. Like I said it is called Fanatic and it has an opinion and passion.” The new album will be released this October.
Kristian Attard, Heart’s last bass player, left the band to pursue other projects and was replaced by Dan
Rothchild, a well known bass player that’s played with big names, such as, Stevie Nicks, Melissa Etheridge, Fiona Apple, and Sheryl Crow. While Kristian will be missed, he can be found, playing bass with Jason Mraz, a Grammy-winning singer/songwriter who got his start in San Diego coffee houses.
Last, but not least, Nancy re-married. After her divorce from film maker Cameron Crowe, she married Geoff Bywater, an executive at FOX who also works on the hit show, Glee. The two were wed in an intimate setting, located at Chickenfoot’s Sammy Hagar’s Mill Valley El Paseo restaurant.
The Fisher brothers, Michael and Roger, just put on their first-ever Moon Fest music festival. The festival was host to some of Seattle’s biggest names in the Seattle music scene. Being that the festival was being held on the 43rd anniversary of Woodstock, Jimi Hendrix tribute artist, Randy Hansen, opened the night, just as Jimi opened Woodstock in 1969. Michael put together a little video trailer, showing the location of the event, some live footage of prior Roger Fisher performances, and some behind-the-scenes footage of the set up of the festival. The event was a big success and many are calling for the next one to be, at least, 2 days long, instead of only one. The Fishers are considering having the festival in a new location for 2013. Stay tuned with UH, as we’ll be your primary source of information for the next Moon Fest music festival. Part of this year’s proceeds from the event went to the American Cancer Society, as the Fishers are notorious for including a charity event in their special live events, such as this one. In fact, Michael is coming up on his 16th year, running sound, with the Susan G. Komen Foundation and their annual Race For The Cure event, held every September in Portland, Oregon. This years event will take place on September 16. Roger, also release a new version of “Love Alive” and a new original, called “Dear Friend”. Both can be found on his official website.

Steve Fossen and Michael Derosier have been keeping quite busy with their band, Heart By Heart. Randy Hansen is also a member of this band, along with Somar Macek, and Andy Baldwin. Somar used to sing Ann’s parts in the former Heart tribute band, Straight On. She and Steve are an item and do make a gorgeous couple. Roger does make the occasional appearance on the stage with Heart By Heart. As you can see, these people are family to each other.
